Westport police kicked off its annual holiday toy drive on Saturday.
Police officers collected new, unopened and unwrapped toys and cash donations Saturday at ASF Sports and Outdoors on the Post Road East in Westport.
The goal is to provide toys to local children's hospitals and underprivileged children throughout Fairfield County.
"What we see when we go to the shelters each year is there's new families coming in asking for toys and everything. They need our help every year and they ask us if we could help. This just an amazing opportunity for people of Westport and for the Westport Police Department to just get together and give back to the community," says Corporal Craig Bergamo.
The drive will be held Sunday and next weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There are also toy collection boxes at department headquarters, ASF sports, Awesome Toys & Gifts and the Toy Post.
