Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo teamed up with Connecticut Tree Protective Association and fifth grade students to celebrate Arbor Day.
Festivities included planting a black oak and a larch tree at the greenhouse and farmyard area on the zoo grounds.
Fifth grade student winners of an Arbor Day "My Favorite Tree" poster contest were also honored.
The winning 10 students came from five schools across the state.
Arbor Day has been celebrated since 1872 and is always the last Friday in April.
