Bridgeport Democratic State Sen. Ed Gomes continues to push a bill that would ban private employers from asking about a job applicant's criminal background.
Gomes spoke at the Bridgeport Correctional Center with other supporters of the Ban the Box bill yesterday.
He says the bill would prevent employers from putting a box on a job application asking about an applicant's criminal background before an interview.
Under the bill, an employer could still do a background check after a job is offered to an applicant and then rescind the offer.
