A member of the Bridgeport City Council is reassuring the public that police will do more to preserve neighborhood safety following two weekend shootings. Councilman Warren Blunt says police are increasing their patrols in the area near Reservoir and Grandview avenues, where more than 20 shell casings were found last night. Residents say they hear gunfire once a month, and that drug dealers have a post at the end of the block. One neighbor says a bullet went through a room in his house, where his two young children often play. Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Bridgeport police at 203-581-5100.
