Bridgeport is swearing in three new police sergeants this week during a ceremony recognizing their years of service.

Chief Roderick Porter, Mayor Joe Ganim, and the Bridgeport Police Commission honored Officer Chealsey Ortiz, Officer Caitlyn Hracs, and Officer Michael Teixeira for their dedication.

"The most important supervisory rank in a police department is a sergeant's position," Porter said. "These new recruits and your officers will follow your lead, so please lead them the right way and lead them the way that we taught you to lead them."

Porter added that he hopes the new recruits attending the ceremony are inspired by the example set by the newly promoted sergeants.
