This week, Mimmo Zefrino DiMare of
DiMare Pastry Shop, shows Tina Redwine how to make gingerbread house royal icing.
Gingerbread house royal icing
Egg whites
Powdered sugar
Cream of tartar or lemon juice
Put icing in a piping bag or a ziploc bag with a cut off a corner.
Find a piece of cardboard to build the house on and start with putting icing on the board for the front of the house, place the front of the house on the board and hold it down while putting icing on the side of the house. Repeat for all sides. Once the structure is built, add icing to the pieces to attach the roof and lastly, the chimney.
You can use soup cans to hold up the house as well.
