This week, Chef Tori Brown of Breakfast Belle, in Norwalk, shows Tina Redwine how to make grits.
Ingredients
  1. 2 cups boiling water
  2. 1/2 stick butter
  3. 1/2 cup yellow stone ground grits (or grits of your choice)
  4. 1 tsp black pepper
  5. 2 tsp salt
  6. 1/3 cup cubes pepper Jack cheese
Instructions
Gently massage and rinse your grits in warm water and drain (Do this 2 times).
Boil 2 cups of water in a pot. Add in your half stick of butter, salt and pepper. Once the butter has melted turn down your tap to a medium heat, add in your grits and stir.
Cook it for about 20 minutes (The trick is to constantly stir your grits until it thickens). Once it thickens add in your cubed pepper jack cheese and stir.
Serve hot with butter or with a dash of Bamma Hot Sauce.
