Representatives of a southwestern Connecticut food bank that helps thousands say their facility is in desperate need of funding.

Managers at the Connecticut Food Bank in Fairfield say the summer is usually slow for the organization in terms of donations. However, they say this summer has been especially slow. Managers at the food bank had to unplug their coolers because they had nothing to put inside of them.

Managers say simple items like peanut butter and milk are scarce, and their shelves are empty in many places. ??This is the first time that I remember in the 10-plus years we've been here that there are empty pallet spaces and I don't have anything to put there,? Manager Jim Stuhlman said.

The Connecticut Food Bank is the primary location where more than 80 not-for profit organizations that feed the needy shop. Stuhlman says the bank needs monetary and corporate donations from local food and restaurant distributors.
