Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara says he has spoken with his entire department about the tragic killing of five police officers in Dallas, Texas.
MacNamara says his main goal was to reassure all of his officers that they have the full backing of the police department, along with his trust and admiration.
He says his officers know that the department is taking concrete steps to keep them as safe as possible and that he told his officers to adopt an attitude that reflects his confidence in the community they serve.
"We have to keep going and provide the services that we did the day before this happened," he says.
MacNamara says fear has no place in the workplace for law enforcement officers, but that doesn't mean he does not put security first.
McNamara says he has conveyed his condolences to Dallas Police Chief David Brown on behalf of the entire Fairfield Police Department.
