Many Bronx residents attended the fifth annual free health fair at Montefiore Medical Center Saturday as President Barack Obama warned that nearly half of Americans under age 65 could lose their coverage in the next decade.
Residents were given free services at the fair regardless of health insurance, including blood pressure examinations, HIV tests and literature on diseases.
One nurse practitioner says many residents need to save their money for food and forego health care in order to pay bills.
Experts say residents should take precautions to avoid getting sick during flu season and see doctors for checkups.
