Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
An elderly woman is recovering in the hospital after crashing her car into several trees in Saugerties. Police say the driver, Patricia Laverty, of Palenville, veered off the shoulder on Route 32. Firefighters had to pull Laverty out of the vehicle and was then flown in a helicopter to Albany Medical Center. Officials say she is in serious, but stable, condition.
A Connecticut man has been arrested for possession of a loaded gun at Westchester County Airport, authorities say. State police say the gun was detected when X-raying the man's carry-on bag at security. The firearm was removed by a Westchester County police officer who confiscated the gun and arrested the man on weapons charges. TSA officials want to remind passengers that guns are never permitted in the cabin of a plane even if it's unloaded. The penalty for carrying weapons recently increased to a maximum of $15,000.
A Connecticut man is facing charges after being found with cocaine in Putnam County. State police in Brewster arrested Kenneth Rios, of Danbury, during a traffic stop on I-684 in the Town of Southeast last Friday. Rios was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Southeast court next month.
