Heat Alert: Temps in mid-90s to close out the week, heat index could feel like 109 degrees

NOW & NEW: Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Steve Teeling says highs will be in the mid-90s both Thursday and Friday, but the heat index could feel more like 105 degrees to 109 degrees. On top of that, scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are also possible on Thursday, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. Some of the storms may contain torrential rains, gusty damaging winds and hail.
NEXT: The break in the heat and humidity will occur over the weekend. Late Saturday, a cool front will approach with another chance of showers and storms. The front will pass through Saturday night and on Sunday into early next week it will be cooler and a whole lot less humid.
OVERNIGHT: Hazy and muggy. Low of 74.
THURSDAY: Hazy, hot and humid, with scattered strong to severe storms possible - especially in the afternoon and evening. Heat index as high as 108. High of 94.
FRIDAY: Hazy, hot and humid. Heat index as high as 105. High of 94. SATURDAY: Hazy, hot and humid with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Turning less humid late at night. High of 91. SUNDAY: Partly sunny, cooler and a lot less humid. High of 81. MONDAY: Mostly sunny and comfortable. High of 80.
