As the temperatures plummeted Thursday, a Bridgeport heating and plumbing company was busy making sure customers? pipes weren?t freezing.
The phones were ringing off the hook at Steve Basso Plumbing and Heating. Scott Basso says the business saw as many as 60 new customers due to the frigid temperatures. He says the whole staff was put on call to accommodate the calls.
Most of the calls that came in were about frozen pipes and no heat. Basso says even with the heat turned up, pipes can still freeze in the frigid weather.
Basso says homeowners should think about preventing freezing pipes before the cold weather hits. He suggests residents insulate pipes and seal up any air leaks in homes. Basso also recommends residents take advantage of the warmer weather this weekend to prepare pipes for colder temperatures.
