Housatonic Community College held its first immigration forum where community members and international students learned about available services and how the school can help them obtain them.
This includes legal services and information about visas and other documentation.
Officials say many times, there is aid and assistance, but that people may not know about them or how to apply.
"My hope and dream is to see people walk out of here with information in their hands and also get the proper tools for them to go back to wherever they are, the schools and the classes so that they can make the right decision," says Pierre F. D'Haiti, educational assistant with Academic Affairs at HCC.
Officials say most people are not aware that there is a time period for all immigration applications, including when you are expected to receive a response.
