More than 200 Bridgeport homes and businesses remained without service as night fell Monday following a large water main burst earlier that morning.

The break happened at the corner of Boston and Seaview avenues. Crews originally hoped to have the water back on by 5 p.m. The repair work was complicated by an underground phone cable, however, and workers were forced to dig by hand - pushing the job into evening hours.

Roads were limited to one lane all day due to the repair work.
