An old-fashioned art supply store in Westport will close its doors at the end of the month.
Max's Art Supplies on Post Road East has been a staple for local artists and illustrators for 59 years.
The rise of digital illustrating means frequent customers were fading away. "It's all computer, so they don't need art materials. They [also] buy online," says owner Shirley Mellor.
Mellor's late husband Max Kaplan was the original owner of the store.
Mellor says she would like to volunteer with the historical society once the store closes.
There will be a final party at the store next Sunday.
