Metro-North alcohol ban in effect through Saturday

Metro-North says commuters who violate the ban could be removed from the train.

Metro-North is banning alcohol on all trains at all stations today and tomorrow.
The ban on Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road trains will take effect at 11 a.m. Friday and run until 12 p.m. Saturday.
Metro-North says commuters who violate the ban could be removed from the train.
Metro-North trains will run on a regular weekday schedule today.
Officials are reminding subway riders in New York City that drinking alcohol and carrying open containers on the subways is prohibited year-round.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Saint Patrick's Day is one of the deadliest times on the road.
Connecticut officials say three people were killed on Saint Patrick's Day on roadways in 2022.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration posted flyers on social media which state, "Plan a sober ride before you reach the PINT of no return."
Connecticut State Police are also echoing the message.
"If you plan on consuming alcohol or cannabis, designate a sober driver or get a ride service such as a taxi, Uber, or Lyft," Trooper Jisselis Garcia says.
