People in Stamford marked the 25th anniversary of the Connecticut state income tax Sunday.
The Yankee Institute for Public Policy held an event at the Sheraton Stamford on East Main Street.
Officials gathered to discuss the effects of the state income tax and its burden on residents.
The president of the Yankee Institute says it's important for lawmakers to come together to find a solution for a lower income tax.
Officials say since the income tax was implemented in 1991, the top marginal rate has been raised four times from 4.5 percent to 6.99 percent.
