Our Lives: Step Out for the Brave 40,000 Step Challenge

Welcome Welcome. I'm Gwen Edwards and this is our lives. 40,000 steps, sounds like a lot, but really it isn't particularly for a good cause the homes for the Brave annual 40,000 step challenges coming up. Vince Santilli is the Ceo and he joins me now welcome Vince! Thank you so much, Gwen, it's a play. Pleasure to be with you. Let's talk about this step challenge. How does it all work? It used to be done all in one day at one time, folks now have nine days to do 40,000 or more or as many steps as are comfortable doing in order to support veterans that are experiencing homelessness that we serve here at homes to the brave. Our step out kicks off on saturday morning august 6th and folks have through the end of the day, sunday august 14th to take as many steps as they can. And last year's winners, Gwen took 300,000 steps in that nine day period, which is just extraordinary, wow. And does it have to be step Spence? Actually, they could ride cycle walk, run, swim, any which way they'd like to do it in order to support our veterans, Let's talk about this big kickoff event that's coming up on august the sixth. That will be at the University of Bridgeport's pedestrian mall from nine am till noon, there will be live entertainment. The wonderful soul was john fazio will be performing again this year and we will have music, we will have raffles, we will have people coming getting their shirts and then taking their initial steps, which they can do. We're just 100 couple 100 yards away from seaside park that you encourage people to be a part of a team. Absolutely. We have over 45 teams right now and we have well over 500 participants already signed up. And so we have teams from businesses, Charitable organizations, families, etc. And let's talk about the need to serve others those who served us now need us to serve them. Yes, indeed our men and women. And remember, we have the first and only home in the state of Connecticut exclusively for female veterans and their young Children. Right now we have four Children. They're ranging in age from five years old down to 10 weeks old. Vince how to sign up, how to be a part. This great 40,000 step challenge. Go to our website at www.
