Police in Monroe say an 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after he was accidentally shot by his father.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Partridge Road near Purdy Hill Road.
Officials say the boy's father accidentally fired a handgun, which sent a projectile through an adjacent wall and hit the boy in the cheek.
Authorities say the victim was first taken to Bridgeport Hospital and then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
They say the boy's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
