Wilton police say everyone is safe this morning after a state distress beacon was set off last night.
Officials say they spent three hours searching after receiving a distress signal from the area of New Canaan and Old Boston Post roads.
Police were ready to search with a boat and divers and even sought to send a chopper, however the weather did not cooperate.
Wilton police say everyone in the area was safe and accounted for. They concluded the beacon was either set off by accident or had a low battery.
