A man is facing charges Monday after attempting to assault a woman at a motel with a hatchet, Milford police say.
Police say they arrested 48-year-old Nicholas DeMayo after he fought with officers and denied any wrongdoing.
They say DeMayo was arguing with a woman at the Post Motor Inn when a woman who lives there tried to break up the disagreement.
They say the woman told them that DeMayo then came after her and she ran to her room, where DeMayo later smashed her window with a hatchet and tried to hurt her.
Police say DeMayo posted his $50,000 bond.
He is due in Milford Superior Court April 19.
