Prosecutor: Man charged in deadly shooting of ex-Rutgers football player in Hoboken

A North Bergen man has been charged in connection to the deadly shooting of a former Rutgers University football player in Hoboken.
Authorities say that Albert Morales, 33, was arrested in Chicopee, Massachusetts on Tuesday. He will remain in custody there until he is extradited to New Jersey.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday near 320 Marshall Drive in Hoboken. Damon Murray, 21, was shot in the abdomen and died from his injuries.
Murray was previously a walk-on member of the Rutgers football team, according to the Hoboken Schools superintendent. He left the university in 2021, according to Rutgers officials.
Morales faces several charges, including murder. A motive for the shooting was not disclosed.
