Sandy Hook mom crusades for end to gun violence
The mother of a 6-year-old killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting was among those at the White House Wednesday night for a meeting on gun violence with President Donald Trump.

The meeting followed the slaying of 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

"The adults in the room need to listen, and they need to take action -- because it's not too soon to make these changes," says Nicole Hockley. "We have a duty to do it now before more people die."

She is the managing director of Sandy Hook Promise, which trains people to know the signs of gun violence.

She's calling for more funding for violence prevention programs and more extensive background checks, among other measures.

She called the president's idea to arm teachers in schools "a horrible idea that can't go any further."
