Officials are demanding answers Friday in the wake of mysterious drone sightings over Connecticut.

As lawmakers from across the tri-state try to address the issue of mysterious drone sightings, Sen. Richard Blumenthal says multiple federal agencies must work together to figure out the origin of the drones.

Blumenthal said the proliferation of reported drone activities in the state raises serious safety and security concerns for both commercial and private aviation as well as national security.

"The FAA, the FBI, the Department of Defense, all of them owe us answers about what they know," Blumenthal said. "I'm demanding answers and action, because we need a plan that will identify these objects when they are in the air, and answers right now about what these objects are, who owns them, who's operating them and action to protect us if there is any threat to our national security."

He says some of the drones sighted are described as being as big as a car.

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told the Associated Press Wednesday that "our initial assessment here is that these are not drones or activities coming from a foreign entity or adversary."
