As Israel continues its airstrikes against Gaza, members of the Bridgeport Islamic Community Center rallied Friday, calling for an end to the violence.
Chants of ?We want justice. We want peace. We want peace? filled the air. About 100 people attended the protest. Friday marked the seventh day of Israeli strikes against Hamas, which the U.S. deems a terrorist organization. More than 400 Palestinians have been killed.
Members of the Bridgeport Muslim community and the Connecticut Anti-Defamation League have different views on the struggle, both agree they want peace in the Middle East.
Hana Bajes, of Milford, says it's an unfair fight because of Israel?s sophisticated, advanced weaponry. Her parents are Palestinian.
David Waren, of the Connecticut Anti-Defamation League, says Israel had no choice but to respond to Hamas? missile attacks on its cities. ?Every civilian death is a tragedy,? Waren says. ?The blame for those civilian deaths lies squarely with Hamas, [which] has taken over Gaza and terrorized its own population.?
