A Stamford mother and daughter involved in a murder-suicide earlier this month were remembered today by friends and neighbors. Neighbor Stephanie Kennedy lived next door to Susan and Florence Beran on Long Ridge Road for nine years. Kennedy says she felt compelled to organize a memorial in Stamford because the family's closes relatives live in the Midwest. The memorial was held at First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Stamford.Detectives say Susan, 57, shot her 85-year-old mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's, and then turned the gun on herself.Investigators say the women had financial problems. They were living in the home without electricity for more than a year and were about to lose the house to foreclosure. Kennedy hopes if one good thing comes from this tragedy it's that people realize they can always reach out for help.Stamford police: Woman killed mother, then herself
