Connecticut State Police are investigating a road rage incident that led to shots being fired in Milford.
It happened Thursday night around 5:15 p.m. near the I-95 exit 36 off-ramp.
Police aren't releasing a lot of information at this time, but they tell News 12 Connecticut they received a report around 5:40 p.m. that someone had fired off a gun, hitting a vehicle, near the southbound off-ramp here.
According to police, it all started anywhere between exits 41 and 36.
Police haven't said what led up to the shots being fired or how many people were involved.
A recent AAA study shows 80 percent of drivers express significant anger, aggression and road rage. Drivers in the northeast are 30 percent more likely to have made an angry gesture than drivers in other parts of the country.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defines aggressive driving as "the operation of a motor vehicle in a manner which endangers, or is likely to endanger, persons or property."
While road rage is defined as "an assault with a motor vehicle or other dangerous weapon by the operator or passenger(s) of another motor vehicle or vehicles precipitated by an incident which occurred on a roadway," road rage is a criminal offense while aggressive driving is a traffic offense.
Troop G is asking anyone who witnessed this incident to give them a call.
