Several members of the junior varsity girls lacrosse team from a boarding school in Washington, Connecticut were injured Saturday afternoon in a bus crash while traveling to a game.
It happened on Route 63 in Goshen just before 1:30 p.m. Two buses from the Frederick Gunn School were traveling north when state police say a Nissan Rouge crossed the double yellow lines and hit the second bus head on.
While trying to avoid the car, the first bus rolled over on its driver's side, stopped in the northbound lane and hit the driver's side of an SUV from Hotchkiss School.
The passengers in both buses and the SUV were all transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for minor injuries.
Several players were treated on scene and those taken to the hospital were released on Saturday. The driver and passenger in the Rouge were not taken to the hospital.
State police say the driver of the Rouge was found to be at fault and issued an infraction for failure to maintain lane.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The school has released the following statement:
"This accident was a serious event and we are particularly grateful to the first responders that swiftly responded to the accident site, along with the medical professionals that cared for our students and adults at a nearby hospital."
