Owners at two Fairfield eateries say they've had to throw away nearly 80% of their inventories due to the ongoing power outage following Tropical Storm Isaias.

The owner of Country Cow Deli says her fridges were only meant to store food for about 12 hours after an outage, and that she has had to throw away a lot of inventory.

"Obviously soda, chips and cookies, and that stuff is great. For the most part, everything down to the condiments, so from our entire egg inventory, all of our meats, our bacon, all of our juices and smoothies, it's probably 80% of our inventory is perishable," Kathy Koulogianis says.

Sunny Daes, the neighboring business and a Fairfield favorite, says all their frozen items, including mostly ice cream, are a total loss.

"It's not good, it's not good. But we will overcome this here," Al Tanis says.

Both mom and pop eateries are keeping their doors shut a little longer as they restock inventory.

Tanis says it's another blow to his business following a loss because of the pandemic.
