Strange odor shuts down one of governor's offices

(AP) - Police closed off one of Governor Rell'sCapitol offices today after a worker opened a piece of mail,smelled a strong odor and felt itchy. The fourth-floor office handles mail from constituents.

(AP) - Police closed off one of Governor Rell'sCapitol offices today after a worker opened a piece of mail,smelled a strong odor and felt itchy.
The fourth-floor office handles mail from constituents. Statepolice said it will be closed for the next 24 to 48 hours.
The worker was decontaminated at the scene and transported toHartford Hospital. State police say five others in the room, whodid not report any problems, will also be decontaminated.
While the state police said they received a report of whitepowder, a spokesman for the governor says no white powder involved.
The state police major crime squad detectives are beginning acriminal investigation.
Employees in surrounding offices went elsewhere to finish theirwork. A spokesman says Rell, who works on the second floor, was notevacuated from the building.
