Students at Eli Whitney Elementary School in Stratford participated in the eighth annual BuzzCuts for Cancer fundraiser Monday.
The 18 participating students spent weeks fundraising for the event, which raises money for The Tommy Fund, a charity dedicated to supporting the families of child cancer patients at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Parents and supporters applauded as students and a few staff and faculty members took turns getting their hair trimmed by hairdressers from Total Image Salon.
The BuzzCuts for Cancer fundraiser has raised over $25,000 for The Tommy Fund in the last eight years.
