Stratford Superintendent Dr. Uyi Osunde announced he resigned from the position Friday,
In a statement, the Stratford Board of Education said it decided to end Osunde's administrative leave and withdraw its charges against him and were planning to reinstate him as superintendent.
Osunde was placed on leave in December after he was arrested for a domestic dispute the previous month.
Charges relating to the case were dismissed earlier this year.
Osunde's discrimination lawsuit against the school board was also settled in October.
However, Osunde informed the board he was interested in pursuing other opportunities.
In its statement, the board said, "Stratford Public Schools recognizes many positive accomplishments under Dr. Osunde's leadership, including improved outcomes on test scores and other objective metrics, enhancement to the safety infrastructure of our district, construction of a new strategic plan with a new vision and mission, creation of new programs to respond to issues of culture and climate, and improvements in family and community relations. Dr. Osunde is a very talented and dedicated educator and all members of the Board wish Dr. Osunde the best in his future endeavors and as he progresses in his career."
Osunde said in a letter to staff and families that "It has been a personal and professional honor to serve the students, faculty, staff, families, and community partners of Stratford Public Schools as superintendent. Stratford has some of the best children and educators in the state, so I am optimistic that a strong shared governance team can continue and build upon the work we began."
