Some local students say they are heartbroken after hearing their dreams of becoming registered nurses may be coming to an end.
Students claim they signed up for nursing school sponsored by the Health and Hospitals Corporation in which they use classroom space at Lehman College. They say they were recruited into the four-year program, and promised by the HHC that all tuition and costs associated with schooling would be paid for.
Classmates say they were heading toward a promising career during the first semester. However, student Joycelyn Lewis claims they were summoned to a meeting where they were told their schooling couldn?t be funded.
The students say if pursuing legal action against the HHC is what it takes to save others from losing a dream then it must be done.
HHC officials say they did not cancel the program.
