A unity rally was held in Greenwich Friday to show solidarity with Israel.
A large group gathered in front of Town Hall and sang the Israeli national anthem, Hatikbah, which translates to the hope.
"Hope for the return of the hostages, hope for the safety of our soldiers, hope for the safety of the state of Israel and hope even now for the prospect of peace," said Rabbi Jordie Gerson from Greenwich Reform Synagogue.
The Israeli flag was also raised.
Attendees told News 12 that showing up was the least they could do during a time of desperation.
"My heart and my family and my home is Israel. These are our family in Israel, and we need to show them support because we love them, no matter what we love them," said Felice Robinov.
Many said it's important for everyone to participate in rallies and similar events to support the Jewish community.
"I think the non-Jewish community is equally if not more important in terms of allyship right now," said Joui Hessel.
"It is one of the darkest weeks of our Jewish lives, and yet this Greenwich community has lit the light of its spirit shine through," said Pam Ehrenkranz from UJA-JCC Greenwich.
