A water main break at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston has been fixed.

The water main break was located outside the hospital, along Old Short Hills Road.

On Thursday, News 12 was told that the hospital has running water and that no patients need to be transferred. However, some changes have been necessary.

Officials needed to divert ambulances to other hospitals to ease the flow of traffic into the Emergency Department.

“The emergency department remains open for patient walk-ins, but, out of an abundance of caution, is diverting ambulances to other facilities, with the exception of burn patients, who will continue to be treated," says Carrie Cristello, spokesperson for RWJBarnabas Health.

Also, hospital officials decided to postpone some surgical procedures and outpatient services.

The township of Livingston is supplying water to the hospital while the repair is completed.
