Three people were injured when a box truck crashed through a Christmas tree nursery and wound up in the Saw Mill River in Hawthorne just before 7 a.m.
Police say the truck driver was traveling northbound on Route 9A, also known as Saw Mill River Road, when a vehicle in front of him abruptly stopped. The truck driver swerved to avoid that vehicle.
As he turned, he struck another car that was heading southbound bound head-on.
The box truck careened off the road, crashed through a fence, ran over a number of trees at the Rosedale Nurseries, and came to rest in the river.
Police say the driver of the gray Subaru suffered neck and back injuries. The truck's driver and a passenger also suffered neck and back injuries. All were transported to Westchester Medical Center.
