Amtrak is launching a new Acela service between Washington, D.C. and New York City, the company announced Thursday.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 23 Amtrak will offer Acela nonstop service.
The initial weekday-only schedule will offer a travel time of 2 hours and 35 minutes.
The southbound train will depart Pennsylvania Station at 6:35 a.m. and is scheduled to arrive at Union Station around 9:10 a.m.

The northbound train will depart Washington, D.C. at 4:30 p.m., and arrive at Pennsylvania Station around 7:05 p.m.
The Acela nonstop service comes in advance of the 2021 launch of brand-new Acela trains, which are also expected to offer nonstop service between Washington and New York and New York and Boston.n
