A local man is sharing his firsthand account of the shooting at a Bridgeport house party that left 13 people injured.
Michael Arlotta, a partygoer, says he drove a woman who was shot in the face and critically injured to the hospital.
"I just couldn't leave her," he says. "I felt an obligation to keep her safe."
Arlotta says he carefully put the woman in the backseat of a car and brought her to the hospital. He says he worried waiting for an ambulance would take too long.
Arlotta is a combat veteran who served in the Army for eight years. He says that as soon as he heard the gunshots and realized what was going on, he reverted back to his training and started triaging victims.
Police say the woman is recovering at Yale New Haven Hospital.
