A Bridgeport man has been sentenced to at least three years in prison for driving drunk and killing a Shelton police officer.
Police say Bruce Knapik slammed his pick up truck into Sgt. Orville Smith. Smith was directing traffic on Route 110 after fireworks in July 2010.
Knapik pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, but admitted to driving under the influence.
Officials say his sentence will be suspended after he serves three years of his 10-year sentence.
