A firefighter from the Bronx who died of a 9/11-related illness was honored during a plaque dedication ceremony at 1226 Seneca Ave. earlier today.
Retired Battalion Chief Thomas Van Doran developed cancer after responding to Ground Zero. The ceremony today brought Van Doran's family, friends and fellow firefighters together at his old firehouse to celebrate his memory.
Van Doran, who was a Bronx native, served the borough for over 15 years. Those close to him say he was loved by all and will be missed dearly.
