A bullet tore through a home in Bridgeport's North End and grazed a sleeping young woman's head early Wednesday morning, police say.
The victim, 18-year-old Jamilivette Padilla, is lucky to be alive, according to authorities. She says she was at the home visiting her best friend.
The bullet entered through a bedroom wall around 2 a.m., near the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Chopsy Hill Road in the Lake Forest neighborhood -- an area where residents say they generally feel safe.
Padilla was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities say another bullet flew into a house in nearby Stratford, and police are investigating the possibility the two cases are connected.
