A clerk was shot last night during an attempted robbery at a Milford gas station.
The botched robbery happened at the Gulf Gas Station's Quick Food Mart on New Haven Avenue.
Store owner Ashfaq Alam says his brother Jehan Zeb was behind the register when the suspect pointed a gun at Zeb and demanded money. Alam was also working at the time and says he immediately put his hands up and told the suspect where he could find the cash.
Alam says the suspect fired one round, hitting Zeb in the leg. Surveillance video shows the armed man remaining aggressive despite Zeb motioning to the location of the cash. Then the video shows Zeb fighting back and struggle for the gun.
Alam says Zeb was able to get his hands on the weapon. The suspect then ran off. On his way out, he hit a glass door so hard that it shattered.
Police say the suspect did not get away with any money and was last seen heading southbound on Buckingham Avenue. Alam says his brother is recovering from his gunshot wound.
