With recreational marijuana sales now underway in Connecticut, community groups held a virtual forum with lawmakers to expand the conversation about how consumers should be informed about legal cannabis in Connecticut.
The Norwalk Partnership, Westport Together, Positive Directions and The Hub came together to host the virtual forum for state and local lawmakers.
The coalitions stressed that education and awareness are key for consumers of recreational cannabis.
The groups say detailing the different types of cannabis products available and the amount of THC in each will help better inform consumers.
A local doctor was also brought in to talk about the physical health risks of cannabis as well as the mental and behavioral health risks.
Local police were on the call relaying to the legislators some of their concerns about the state's current cannabis laws.
