Fairfield residents are sharing positive messages during the coronavirus outbreak and self-isolation period.

Holiday lights are back up on the tree at Sherman Town Green, and many call it the 'Tree of Hope' which is lit up in red, white and blue.

American flags that usually line the green during July Fourth have been put back up also.

Fairfield Parks & Recreation is also encouraging families to open a window or come out on their front steps every Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 7:02 p.m. and either ring a bell or bang on some pots and pans as a way to come together during the public health emergency and period of self-isolation from the virus.

Positive messages written in chalk have been popping up around town too. Kids are writing phrases like "love," "be kind," and "keep on being you."

The words "thank you for keeping us safe" are written in chalk outside fire headquarters.

Fairfield has also launched a "friendly caller" program for anyone feeling lonely or anxious.
