Friends of a Stamford man killed in an alleged drunken driving accident Sunday are asking for help raising enough money to send his body back to his native country to be buried.
Friends say Ivan Dziuba and another friend were at a cookout when a co-worker accidentally slammed into them with his car. Dziuba was thrown into the air and died a short time later. He left behind a wife and 1-year-old daughter.
Dziuba?s friend says the 25-year-old was a hard-working man who came to the U.S. from the Ukraine with his wife. Stamford police say the co-worker, 30-year-old Mykhaylo Peleh, was drunk when he backed his car down Finney Lane and lost control.
