New tourism statistics out Monday show more people are vacationing in Connecticut.
Gov. Dannel Malloy says there has been a 12 percent increase in summer visitors to two dozen Connecticut attractions, which he attributes to a multimillion-dollar tourism campaign.
"I have taken a lot of heat from folks to promote tourism. I think it's the right thing to do; it's paying pretty big dividends," says Gov. Malloy.
That increase may prove difficult to maintain though, as this year's state budget cut money for tourism.
