A Fairfield woman charged in a fatal hit-and-run appeared before a judge Tuesday.
As News 12 Connecticut has reported, police say 61-year-old Denise Purzycki hit 89-year-old Martin Monahan at the intersection of Burroughs Road and Black Rock Turnpike in December 2014.
Investigators say Purzycki thought she hit a curb and kept going, but was stopped by other drivers not far from the scene.
The Monahan family says they hope the accident can help keep pedestrians safe in the future. They say Martin was an inspiration to them and they hope justice is served.
