The iconic Beachcomber Café in Milford is closing for good.
It temporarily closed in March due to the pandemic, but it won't be reopening. Coldwell Banker listed the building on Melba Street for $800,000.
The Beachcomber has been a true neighborhood dive bar for decades. Live music was a staple on Friday nights.
For the Kathy Thompson Band, it's been a favorite place for gigs.
"I said I want to play one last gig at the Beachcomber – maybe open the doors and have people outside in the parking lot or something," says Kathy Casey.
The current owners bought the Beachcomber in the mid-'70s, but it was a different bar before that. News 12 was told the building dates back to the 1920s or '30s.
Realtors wrote in the listing, "This is your opportunity to revitalize this space."
"Things change, I guess, all the old buildings go away, and the memories stay," says Casey.
Along with the Beachcomber, the owner's adjacent property at 44 Beachland Ave. is also for sale.
