The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said Metro-North trains were on schedule Monday evening, despite a power outage that closed the lower level of Grand Central Station.
Passengers said the outage did not cause many issues. Metro-North was on a weekend schedule due to Presidents Day, resulting in smaller crowds.
The MTA said the outage happened around 9:30 a.m. Officials said transit workers used flashlights to lead passengers from trains to the concourse.
Officials closed the lower level of Grand Central and moved all train service to the upper level. They said a burst water pipe led to the electrical problems.
Passengers had to buy their tickets on the train due to issues with the ticket machines. The MTA waived the extra on-board fee that is usually charged.
